About
About ChaguaShule
ChaguaShule puts 27,297 Tanzanian schools on one map, with the exam results NECTA published for each, so anyone can look a school up and see how it did. It shows what the records say. It does not tell you which school to choose.
Who built it
ChaguaShule is built by Harvey Kadyanji and Davis David.

Where the data comes from
Everything on the site comes from public records.
- NECTA
National Examinations Council of Tanzania
Examination results as NECTA published them: PSLE 2023 for primary schools, and CSEE (Form Four) and ACSEE (Form Six) 2015–2025 for secondary schools. Pass rates, GPAs and NECTA's own school rankings.
- TAMISEMI
President's Office – Regional Administration and Local Government
The 2024 school census: the list of schools, with ownership, enrolment, boys and girls, and location. It covers mainland Tanzania; Zanzibar's schools appear from their exam results alone.
- OpenStreetMap
Positions for about 2,000 schools the census could not place, through the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team's export. © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database Licence.
- GADM
Database of Global Administrative Areas
Region and council boundaries.
- CARTO
The base map, drawn from OpenStreetMap data.
Good to know
- ChaguaShule is independent. It is not run by, or affiliated with, NECTA, TAMISEMI or the Government of Tanzania.
- Figures are shown as NECTA published them. Some schools could not be matched between the census and the results, and some positions are approximate; the pages say where.
- Some pages carry a sponsored link. It is always labelled as one.
